The intra-party confrontation within the Democratic Party in Albania, starring former President and Prime Minister Sali Berisha, is taking on chaotic proportions with violent incidents, threats and unprecedented sharpness.
Thousands of faithful fans attempted today to invade violently and occupy the offices of the party in the center of Tirana but were replaced by members of the party that appears in today’s President Luzlim Bass and guarded the building, with the police assistance with the use of Chemicals and Grenade Grenades flash.
The protesters “besieged” the building, demanding that Basha hand over to them the offices that, according to Berisha, have been demolished by legal procedures from the party leadership and that he should launch the process of re-establishing the Democratic Party.
Basha was fortified in the building with his internal party supporters who responded, with whatever means at their disposal, to the attacks of the supporters of Berisha, who led the “siege”.
In the afternoon, at the request of Basha, the police intervened and dispersed Berisha’s followers.
The situation remains tense in front of the party’s offices while the western factor also recommended restraint.
