The price of inflation in the UK in March recorded small decrease, but remained above 10%, while food and beverage costs rose to a 45-year high.
Specifically, inflation took shape to 10.1% from 10.4% in February, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The majority of economists expected the price to settle at 9.8%.
Even the smallest reduction is attributed in falling energy costs, with motor and heating fuel prices falling to levels not seen since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
On the other hand they were recorded further upward pressures from the cost of natural gas and electricity consumption in households and from food prices.
Food staples such as bread, milk and eggs recorded inflated prices, pushing individual food inflation to 19.2%, the highest rate of increase since August 1977.
The high prices are mainly attributed to increased costs production and raw materials.
The hope of British consumers is that with the arrival of the season for domestic production of products such as tomatoes and cucumbers some of the high cost of food will be alleviated.
The prices in clothing, furniture and home products did increase, but at a lower rate compared to a year ago.
Reacting to the new data, Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt commented that it confirms that efforts to ease inflation must continue to limit the pressures on households and businesses.
