THE US President Joe Biden will receive on May 12 the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to White House for “the deepening of historical relations” between the two countries, his representative, Karin Jean-Pierre, announced today.

The two leaders will review efforts as NATO Allies and close partners to strengthen the bilateral defense relationship, transatlantic security and economic prosperity, the White House spokeswoman said. In addition, they will discuss unwavering support for Ukraine and their efforts to implement sanctions on the Kremlin as Russia continues its war.

Karine Jean-Pierre underlined that in this visit the leaders will coordinate on a range of issues as Spain prepares to take over the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union in July, including climate change and expanded cooperation with Latin America and Caribbean.
