A former Miss England crown is facing 20 years in a Mexican prison hell for suspected drug trafficking, according to the Daily Mail. Jennifer Young was caught trying to smuggle more than £250,000 worth of ketamine into Cancun airport after arriving from Amsterdam last August.

The 33-year-old model allegedly had the amount of drugs hidden in bottles, in a false bottom of her suitcase.

The former crown prince kept her family in the dark, the report said, about her condition for more than six months, telling her heartbroken mother she was just traveling the country. However, her mother finally learned the truth only five weeks ago when her only daughter did not call her to wish her a happy birthday.

“I’m still shocked. I knew my daughter was in Mexico, but I thought she was traveling. I just found out that Jenny (her pet) is in jail. My birthday is in March and wherever Jenny is she calls me. However, he did not contact me and I began to worry. Then I got a text from her friend. I asked her where she was. After many messages, he finally told me he was in jail. I could not believe it.

Then I learned the whole story. That he was in jail in Cancun for months. In February he was transferred to another prison outside Mexico. She has been charged with drug trafficking but has yet to go to trial. She could face up to 20 years in prison. I’m very worried,” added her mother.

Young, who was born in Germany to a British mother and a German father, spent much of her life working abroad as a model and tour guide after leaving her homeland at the age of 19.

The famous model receives visits from the British consul in Mexico. She is expected to meet with a lawyer this week to discuss her trial. She says she gets three meals a day, but they are very small portions. Young faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of drug trafficking, one of Mexico’s most serious crimes.
