The efforts of the authorities to rescue the Greeks from Sudan are ongoing
The two transport aircrafts C-130 and C-27j that had taken off bound for Egypt, as part of the operation to free Greek citizens from Sudan, have landed, as it became known from the Greek Ministry of Defense.
The two shuttles landed at an airport in southern Egypt.
In a more recent 📞 communication today, EE/AE J. Borrell and I discussed further the actions to provide assistance to the Greeks in Sudan and in particular the plans to extricate them as soon as possible. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/lhvch71Fzj

The aircraft were directed to Egypt as operations to evacuate foreign nationals are underway in Sudan.
The first group of Greek citizens, including two injured, left Sudan with the help of France, on a flight bound for Djibouti.
These are 8 people who were welcomed by the Greek Ambassador to Ethiopia.
Another flight of 12 Greeks leaving Sudan is expected to land in Djibouti.
The major rescue operation is in full swing and is set to continue throughout the night.
It is noted that there are estimated to be around 100 Greeks with their families in Sudan and every possible effort is being made for their safe transportation.
As emphasized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they are going to take advantage of every truce window, while it is recalled that Nikos Dendias spoke with his French counterpart, earlier, as France’s assistance was necessary.
In the context of the continuous monitoring of the situation in Sudan and coordination of actions for the release of Greeks from that country, two meetings of the Crisis Management Unit were held today, under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, with the participation of the official leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador of of Greece in Cairo and of GEETHA.
