Piotr Dudek has been windsurfing since 1981 and his friends encouraged him to claim the Guinness World Record for the oldest surfer
An 88-year-old surfer in Poland is seeking to break a Guinness World Record as the oldest athlete to practice his favorite sport.
Piotr Dudek 88, from Gdynia said he has been windsurfing since 1981 and was encouraged by his friends to try for the Guinness World Record for the oldest surfer after discovering the previous record had been broken by 86-year-old Charles Johannes Rutter in 2000.

Dudek, who was nicknamed “Junior” by fellow surfers at the age of 80, researched what it would take to break the record and found that he needed to windsurf at least once for three consecutive months, a feat he previously accomplished the week.
The mayor of Gdynia presented Dudek with a trophy to celebrate the achievement, and Dudek himself said that the evidence from his official attempt is now being submitted to the Guinness World Records organization for official certification.
