At least one person was killed when an unknown person opened fire at noon Monday (local time) at Rose State College in Midwest City, a suburb of Oklahoma, USA. The news was confirmed by the City Authorities.

Authorities were alerted when the college issued an emergency signal, warning students of an “active shooter” on campus. The alert status was confirmed by Rose State College’s official website, asking students to shelter in place and remain in their rooms.

Witnesses reported hearing at least six gunshots. The police arrived at the scene and quickly located the suspect, who was arrested and the situation is now under control. The school confirmed in another tweet that authorities are at the school and the perpetrator was taken into custody.

The identity of the victim or the motive of the perpetrator have not been released.

The school has approximately 13,000 students.
