Djokovic: “I have not been vaccinated” his dialogue with the border authority

by

More documents related to the Djokovic case were given by the Australian court after the morning reversal of the decision to cancel the visa of the Serbian tennis champion.

These include the recording of Novak Djokovic’s interview with the border guard shortly after his arrival at Melbourne Airport on the night of January 5th-6th.

Serbian tennis champion Novak Djokovic was diagnosed with coronavirus twice, as he stated while admitting that he has not been vaccinated.

Asked if he would like to add anything else, Djokovic said “no”. Shortly afterwards, he was informed that his visa had been revoked. Djokovic continues to face deportation despite Australian court ordering government release from detention and reinstatement of visa

In the dialogue in question, Novak Djokovic confirmed that he had been diagnosed with coronavirus twice and that he had not been vaccinated.

– Are you vaccinated?
– I have not been vaccinated.
– Or for the coronavirus? Have you not been vaccinated?
– I have not been vaccinated.
– Thanks. Have you ever had a coronavirus?
– Yes.
– So when?
– I had a coronavirus twice. One in June 2020 and again recently. I tested positive – PCR test – on December 16, 2021.

Shortly afterwards, the Border Patrol officer informed Novak Djokovic that he would be able to speak to his lawyers and that because his shift was coming to an end, the interview would be continued by another Border Patrol officer.

The employee tells him: “Well what will happen is, because I am finishing my shift, this case will be handed over to another team. “Another case official is going to come and talk to you,” Djokovic agreed.

The second official tells Djokovic that if he does not respond to this interview, then “a decision can be made based on the information that already exists”.

The clerk informs Djokovic that he will be taken to a hotel by government contractor Serco and then asks him if he has anything else he wants to add. With Djokovic answering:

“Well, as I said before, I’m surprised that there is not enough information on why I was granted medical exemption by the Independent State Commission of Victoria, which confirmed that I met the criteria to enter Australia; “It’s not on the paper you read to me and that if someone had or had a positive coronavirus PCR test in the past six months and may have had a negative PCR test and a sufficient amount of antibodies, then they are given access and that is exactly what happened throughout the procedure.”

He continued: “Therefore, we provided you – I provided you with medical documentation, on December 16 I tested positive for PCR, PCR coronavirus test, and on December 22 I tested negative. “I sent the blood test for my antibodies and I had enough and I was granted access to Australia and I received the documents supporting my medical exemption and the travel statement from the federal government.”
