As the days draw near for her May 6th when his coronation ceremony will take place King Charles in Westminster Abbey global interest is growing. An estimated 27 million Britons and 300 million viewers worldwide will watch the rare grand ceremony which is the first since 1953, when his mother Elizabeth was crowned queen, 15 months after the death of George VI.

According to the palace, the guest list will amount to 2,000 guests out of 8,000 who was at Queen Elizabeth’s coronation. Among the foreign monarchs, there are several who have already responded to Charles’s invitation, such as:

Also, 450 ordinary citizens, workers and volunteers, who have been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) will attend the ceremony in recognition of their contribution to the country. They include 13-year-old Max Woosey, who slept in a tent in his garden for three years to raise money for his grandmother’s hospice, and chef Manju Malhi, who offered online cooking classes during the pandemic .
