Chancellor Olaf Solz said that Ukraine must not attack Russian territory with weapons supplied by Germany, stressing once again that everything must be done to avoid a NATO-Russia war.

“The weapons delivered are not intended for attacks against Russia,” Mr. Solz clarified, speaking yesterday (Monday) evening at a “citizen dialogue” in Bendorf, Rhineland-Palatinate. As the chancellor clarified, other states that supply Ukraine with weapons to counter the Russian attack apply corresponding rules. “With all the necessary assistance to Ukraine, everything must be done to avoid a war between NATO and Russia,” he added.

Referring to the shortage of ammunition for the Gepard anti-aircraft missiles that Germany has made available to Ukraine, Mr. Scholz assured that Kiev can expect a new delivery in August. Production is being set up, but that is taking some time, he clarified.
