After a two-day search in the area, police euthanized two large crocodiles and found human body parts.
What’s left of the body of a missing Australian fisherman has been found inside a crocodile.
According to the BBC, Kevin Darmody was last seen in a crocodile habitat in remote north Queensland on Saturday.
After a two-day search in the area, police euthanized two large crocodiles and found human body parts.
The remains have not yet been identified, but police said it was a “tragic end” to the search for the 65-year-old fisherman.
Darmody was an experienced fisherman and a well-known member of the community.
The two crocodiles, which were 4.1 meters high and 2.8 meters long, were killed on Monday about 1.5 kilometers from where the fisherman was last seen.
Human remains were found inside one crocodile, but both are believed to have been involved in the tragedy.
Crocodiles are common in Australia’s tropical north, but attacks are rare. Darmody’s death is the 13th recorded in Queensland since records began in 1985.
