Carla Scott and her partner Dirk Howell are accused of beating her nine-year-old son to death, according to “Sky News”, who appeared in court today.

Nine-year-old Alfie Steele was found dead two years ago in the bathroom of his home with his lungs full of water with “no sign of life”. His mother, Carla Scott called the ambulance on February 18, 2021 from her home.

Her son told rescuers that Alfie had fallen asleep in the bathroom, but an investigation found that she was lying to protect her partner, Dirk Howell,

Outlining the case, prosecutor Michelle Healy told the court that Alfie died as a result of the “deliberate and unlawful actions” of Carla and her partner and that the nine-year-old was “deliberately attacked, beaten, and then put in for punishment by opening the cold water”.

Alfie was taken to Worcester Hospital. His temperature was “impressively low” at 23 degrees and he was pronounced dead at 3.55pm.

The court heard the nine-year-old “had bruises all over his body”.

According to the prosecutor, “the boy’s mother and Dirk Howell were whipping the little boy with belts and flip-flops,” adding that the boy was already under the supervision of social services after his mother began a relationship with Dirk Howell in July 2019.

Both Carla Scott and Dirk Howell deny murdering Alfie. The trial continues.
