Air raid sirens sounded again today across Ukraine. In the last 24 hours, the Russian forces have been launching continuous drone and missile attacks, spreading panic among the citizens.

Explosions were heard overnight in Kiev. Five people were injured according to the city’s mayor in the “largest” kamikaze drone attack to date. Specifically, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko stated that almost 60 drones have been launched by Russia, calling it the “largest” such attack to date. He added that all 36 drones were destroyed over Kiev, but five people were injured by falling debris from the downed drones.

At the same time, a civilian was killed in an attack in the southern Odesa region and the Ukrainian Red Cross says its warehouse was hit as rockets from long-range bombers hit the area.

Eight people, including a nine-year-old boy, were injured in two villages in Ukraine’s southern Kherson region on Monday, regional officials said. Six civilians were injured in the village of Stanislav on the right bank of the Dnipro estuary, regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin said, as reports Reuters.

Two others were wounded in Antonivka, on the outskirts of Kherson, said the head of the military command, Roman Mrotsko.

Meanwhile, in Zaporizhia, 1,700 civilians have been hastily evacuated from areas around the nuclear plant as tension in the region has risen while on the eastern front, the Ukrainian commander of forces in besieged Bakhmut said Russian troops had stepped up shelling, in a attempt to capture the city by tomorrow, Tuesday.

After a relative lull on the part of Russian forces without many attacks on civilian targets, Moscow has again stepped up its airstrikes. The new attacks come just 24 hours before Russia celebrates Victory Day, a special day for Russians commemorating the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany during World War II.
