Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan talks about a great celebration of the Republic in a new post on Twitter, on the sidelines of the first results of the Turkish elections, according to which he is currently ahead with 50.3% of the Republican People’s Party leader ( PLK) and his co-candidate for the presidency, Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

At the same time, he commented that the attempt to announce hasty results implies the usurpation of the national will and expressed his satisfaction with the results so far.

The post in detail:

“The fact that the May 14 elections were held in the form of a great celebration of democracy in peace and quiet is an expression of the democratic maturity of our country

While the elections were held in such a positive and democratic atmosphere and the counting of votes continues, the attempt to announce hasty results amounts to usurping the national will.

We are pleased that our nation’s favor is reflected in the ongoing vote count.

I am asking everyone working to count the votes to stay at the polls no matter what until the results are officially finalised.

I congratulate all my citizens who voted in the name of democracy and participated in the electoral process and express my gratitude to each and every one of them.”
