THE Yevgeny Prigozhinthe leader of the mercenary organization “Wagner”, offered to reveal to the Ukrainian government the positions of Russian troops, as reported by the newspaper yesterday Washington Post citing leaked US intelligence documents.

According to the report, while the mercenary group’s men were dying by the thousands in the battle to capture Bakhmut in January, Prigozhin offered to reveal to Ukrainian intelligence the positions of Russian forces in exchange for Ukrainian commanders withdrawing their soldiers around the area of ​​Bahamut.

The publication reports that Ukraine rejected his proposal.

According to the newspaper, Prigozhin’s offer was made through his contacts with the Ukrainian intelligence service.

A White House spokesman declined to comment on the report, which is based on leaks of classified US intelligence documents on the Discord platform.

Prigozhin, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has publicly threatened to withdraw members of his organization from the area around Bakhmut, where they are on the front lines of the Russian offensive, if they do not receive the much-coveted ammunition.

Last Tuesday, he said in a recorded message that he and his men would be considered traitors if they left the area.
