Novak Djokovic: Extension to the thriller despite the draw at the Australian Open

by

The Australian government seems to be extending the thriller on the Novak Djokovic case, as Immigration Minister Alex Hawke is not expected to make any announcements today, Thursday.

An Australian government source, citing local site The Age, said Hawk was still considering the matter, but no announcements were expected tonight. “The minister is still examining all the details of the case,” said an Immigration official.

Earlier, the draw for the tournament took place with a short delay and Djokovic was drawn with his Serbian compatriot Miomir Kesmanovic.

The decision to cancel Djokovic’s visa last week was overturned in the Federal District Court on Monday, but the immigration minister will still have the final say on whether the tennis star will be allowed to stay in the country.

However, Stefanos Tsitsipas seemed to leave points against Novak Djokovic, speaking on the English-language channel wion. “It seems that not everyone plays by the rules,” Tsitsipas said characteristically for the Australian Open.
