Titanic While the largest passenger ship in the world in 1912, the famous ship was actually much smaller than modern cruise ships
When most people think of the Titanic, they think of a huge cruise ship.
But while it was the largest passenger ship in the world in 1912, the famous ship was actually much smaller than modern cruise ships.
The Titanic was 10 decks high, 882.5 feet long and 92 feet beam, which is the widest part of the ship.
However, the world’s current largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas, which is set to make its maiden voyage in 2024, is 20 decks tall, 1197.5 feet long and 213 feet beam.
An edited image on Twitter shows the Titanic sailing in front of a huge modern cruise ship, showing how small it looks compared to modern cruise ships. That particular tweet was retweeted nearly 25,000 times.
The Titanic and its history resurfaced this week, 111 years after it sank in the North Atlantic, as the first full digital scan of the legendary wreck was revealed.
