Former Uruguayan president José “Pepe” Mujica posted a photo in his Instagram stories alongside the biography “Marighella – the Guerrilla Who Ignited the World”, by Mário Magalhães, which he received as a gift from actor and director Wagner Moura.

Mujica also released the note Moura wrote to him in Spanish introducing himself and telling him that he had filmed “Marighella”, which tells the story of the communist guerrilla who died during the dictatorship.

“Know that you are a great example for those who continue to fight here in Brazil”, says the director of the film.

Along with a photo of Moura’s words, the former president wrote: “Now that the censorship is over, we recommend that you watch [ao filme]!”.

In the two days of its premiere, “Marighella” had 20,000 spectators in 160 theaters across Brazil.

At the premiere of the film for guests on Friday (29), in São Paulo, Moura made a short speech. “It’s absurd to have to fight the federal government to debut in your country,” he said. “It’s a love film, made for the Brazilian audience, about those who resisted [à ditadura] and those who are resisting today in Brazil. Out, Bolsonaro!” shouted the Bahian, to applause.

This Saturday (6), “Marighella” will have a popular exhibition at the MST (Landless Rural Workers Movement) Jacy Rocha settlement, in Prado, Bahia.
