An adviser to the president of Ukraine denied that Kiev was directly involved in the attack
An adviser to Ukraine’s president denied that Kiev was directly involved in today’s drone strike against Moscow, but said Ukraine was happy to watch the events and predicted an increase in such attacks.
Russia announced that Ukraine had launched its largest missile to date its drone strike against Moscowbut added that the anti-aircraft defense destroyed all eight of these drones.
“…regarding the attacks: of course we are happy to watch and predict an increase in the number of attacks. But of course we have nothing to do with it,” said Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podoliak speaking on the YouTube channel “Breakfast Show”.
The attack came weeks after the Kremlin was hit by a drone attack that Russia blamed on Ukraine, and coincided with the latest wave of Russian airstrikes against Kiev.
A senior member of the Russian parliament from the United Russia ruling coalition, Alexander Hinstein, said three drones were shot down today over the expensive Moscow suburb of Rublyovka, where President Vladimir Putin has an official residence.
In a posting on the Telegram messaging app, Hinstein said the three drones were shot down over three villages in Rublyovka, one of which is just a 10-minute drive from Putin’s residence in Novo-Ogaryovo.
Russia’s Investigative Committee confirmed that drones were shot down over the Odinchovsky District, which includes Rublyovka.
Rublyovka, a cluster of heavily guarded elite communities in the forests west of Moscow that once included some of the most expensive real estate in the world, is home to much of Russia’s political, business and cultural elite.
In addition to Putin, former President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin are said to have residences in Rublyovka, as are many of Russia’s richest businessmen.
In a statement posted on Telegram, the head of the Wagner mercenary company Yevgeny Prigozhin blamed the drone attacks on the fact that high-ranking military officials live in the suburb.
“Who cares if these drones fly to your houses in Rublyovka! Let your houses burn,” said Prigozhin.
Here’s what we know so far about this latest drone strike against Moscow:

– The Ministry of Defense announced that eight drones attacked the Russian capital. Baza, a channel on the Telegram app with links to security services, reported that more than 25 drones were involved in the attack.
– The General Staff of the Ukrainian armed forces did not immediately respond to a written request for comment on who was behind the drone attack in Moscow.
– According to the RBC news website, a source said that “more than ten” drones were shot down by air defense systems.
– Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said two people needed medical attention after the impact. No deaths were reported.
– The Russian Investigative Committee, which investigates major crimes, announced that drones had crashed into buildings in Moscow, causing minor damage. He added that he was investigating the hit.
– RBC reported that three buildings were hit by drones: two near Leninsky Prospekt in southern Moscow and a third in the city of Moskovskiy, near Vnukovo Airport.
– A resident of one of the buildings told Reuters that the attack took place around 06:00 (Greece time) and that a security team removed her from the building.
