If the French newspaper’s report is confirmed, then the meeting between the two leaders will come after a prolonged crisis in their relations
The Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan invited his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron to visit Turkey “late summer”, without a date yet being set, reports the French newspaper L’Opinion in today’s publication.
The two leaders spoke by phone the day after Erdogan won the Turkish presidential election, the report said, adding that the Turkish president is likely to visit Paris on June 22-23 for the Global Financial Compact summit. Finally, it is reported that the French and Turkish presidents may have the opportunity to meet at the NATO summit on July 11 and 12 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
If the French newspaper’s report is confirmed, then the meeting of the two leaders will come after a prolonged crisis in their relations with Recep Tayyip Erdogan having launched several attacks against the French president saying, among other things, that he does not have the qualifications to be a leader state.
