Nole – Out of the Australian Open – He is leaving Australia – What he said

by

The head of the Australian Federal Court, James Alsop, announced the decision to abolish the visa of the Serbian tennis player Nokvak Djokovic about 10 minutes before six in the afternoon.

As he stressed, the role of the court was not to judge the value of the government’s decision to cancel Djokovic’s visa. Instead, he was instructed to review the legality of the decision for the three reasons put forward by Djokovic’s lawyers.

“Given the interest and coverage in various parts of the world, including Mr κοokovi.’S country of origin, Serbia, the court considers it appropriate to clarify certain issues regarding the proceedings that have taken place,” he said. “It is not part of the court’s job to decide on the substance or wisdom of the decision [του κ. Χοκ]».

Issuing the unanimous verdict, he said: “The court orders are… the amended application to be rejected at court costs”.

The organization of the tournament has already replaced him with Salvatore Caruso. Therefore, it is a matter of time before he leaves the country.

Following the court ruling to cancel his visa, Novak Djokovic issued a brief statement.

He said he was “extremely disappointed” and said he would take some time to rest.

The statement:

“I would like to make a brief statement to refer to the results of today’s hearing.

I will now take some time to rest and recover, before making further comments beyond that.

I’m extremely disappointed with the Court’s decision to reject my application for judicial review of the Minister’s decision to cancel my visa, which means that I can not stay in Australia and participate in the Australian Open.

I respect the decision of the Court and I will cooperate with the competent authorities in connection with my departure from the country.

I feel uncomfortable being the focus of the last few weeks and I hope we can all now focus on the game and tournament I love.

I would like to wish the players, the tournament organizers, the staff, the volunteers and the fans all the best for the tournament.

Finally, I would like to thank my family, friends, team, supporters, fans and fellow Serbs for your continued support. “You have all been a great source of strength for me.”
