Turkey summoned the Swiss ambassador to protest, demanding an investigation and the identification of the perpetrators, Turkish diplomatic sources said.
The hanging and burning of his effigy caused outrage in Ankara Tayyip Erdogan in Zurich.
Both the Turkish flag and an effigy of the Turkish president were burned in front of the UBS bank in the Swiss capital by a group of activists called the Zurich Revolutionary Strike Collective. At the same time, a banner with the slogan “kill (Erdogan)” was also unfurled.

The Swiss ambassador in Ankara was summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, where he was informed that “provocations targeting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish flag in Zurich are absolutely unacceptable.”
Jean Daniel Ruch was invited to the ministry by Mehmet Kemal Bozai, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey and Permanent Representative of Turkey to the EU.
During the meeting, Bozai told Ruchs that attacks targeting Erdogan should not be tolerated.
