Europe: Charlemagne Prize for Youth 2022: Applications started

On Monday, January 10, 2022, the application platform for the European Charlemagne Prize for Youth was launched.

The award is aimed at young people aged 16-30, and supports initiatives-projects that promote understanding and solidarity, but also the development of a common European identity and consciousness among EU citizens. It also highlights the daily work of young people throughout Europe, for the strengthening of European democracy, while supporting their active participation in shaping the future of Europe.

The award is jointly administered by the European Parliament and the Charlemagne International Prize Foundation of Aachen.

The deadline for applications is 13 February 2022.

Projects must meet the following criteria to be eligible:

1. They must demonstrate achievements in the following areas:

promote cooperation and understanding throughout Europe and internationally, based on democratic values ​​(such as respect for human dignity, freedom, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights)
to promote a common sense of European identity and European integration
to encourage other young people in Europe to join our democracy
provide practical examples of Europeans living together as a community.
2. Must be submitted by a young person residing in one of the 27 EU Member States and aged between 16 and 30 at the time of application.

Schedule for 2022

· January 10, 2022: start of the competition

· 13 February 2022: deadline for submission of projects

· March 2022: announcement of the national winners

· May 2022: Award Ceremony in Aachen
