At least a student was killed after a shooting that occurred inside a school in the southern city of Kampala of Brazil, announced the local government of the state of Paraná, adding that another injured student is being treated.

The arrested attacker is a former student of the Professora Helena Kolody public school, who entered the school premises, saying he wanted to request his school records, the government said.

Gov. Ratino Jr. declared three days of mourning and sent the local public security and education ministers to Cabe, a city of 108,000 people located about 400 kilometers from the Parana state capital of Curitiba.

Justice Minister Flavio Dino said after the attack that “This kind of violence that has taken root in Brazil is unacceptable“, adding that “violence was once again committed in the most sacred space for children”.

Earlier this year, a man armed with a small ax climbed over a wall and entered a daycare center in southern Brazil where he killed four children, while at a Sao Paulo school a 13-year-old student stabbed a teacher to death and injured five others.
