“The aggressive policies of the United States and NATO, leading to an ever deeper involvement in the military confrontation (including with Ukraine), may lead to immediate conflict between nuclear powers“, threatened the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at a press conference on Wednesday.

“The biggest danger is that with aggressive policies aimed at inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia in the Ukrainian conflict, the United States and NATO continue to raise the stakes and drag themselves ever deeper into military conflict. It is obvious that such a policy, which we characterize as reckless, is capable of leading to an immediate armed conflict between nuclear powers,” he said. “I don’t think we need to explain once again the essence of strategic risks arising in this context and the potentially catastrophic character of further developments according to the worst case scenario,” Zakharova said characteristically.

The Russian official said that Russia is fully aware of the seriousness of the situation and “systematically sends signals of frustration to Western countries”.

“The problem, however, is that the West is simply obsessed with anti-Russian hysteria and an all-out hybrid war against our country. He shows no inclination to adequately perceive our position. The entire responsibility for the further deterioration of the situation lies with the Western capitals. For our part, we can only reiterate firmly that Russia is determined to defend its security interests and we would not recommend in the West to dispute this” Zakharova warned.
