A 13-year-old boy from a small town of Argentinian it is accused that he killed his best friend and left his dead body in an abandoned house, according to the Spanish newspaper El País.

Security camera footage obtained by authorities shows the boy and his victim —14-year-old Joaquín Sperani— walk out of their school on June 29 and enter an abandoned house nearby.

Both children appear happy and are walking side by side, according to what authorities shared with reporters in Laboulaye, Argentina.

As it became known, the two boys entered the house where one appears to have beaten the other to death. Then the 14-year-old left and returned to school.

The bike that the unfortunate child took to school every morning was left tied to the school fence for the rest of the day. When his parents noticed that he hadn’t returned from school, they contacted the police to report his disappearance.

Authorities spent two days searching for Sperani, during which his alleged killer apparently gave them false information about his friend’s whereabouts. Just three days later, the child’s body was found by neighbors and relatives of the victim.

“We were walking with two of his cousins ​​and we passed an abandoned house. We went inside and as soon as we entered, we saw the body. The cousins ​​started screaming. It was like a horror movie. I saw the body and couldn’t believe it. After that, we called the police and they took us out of the spot,” a local resident told the media.

After Sperani’s body was found, his best friend and alleged killer confessed to authorities that committed the crimeaccording to local reports.

The teenager right now is being held in a juvenile detention center, but due to his age he cannot be prosecuted. The motive behind the killing remains unclear.

Sperani died of head trauma that killed him instantly after receiving at least 10 blows, according to preliminary autopsy data.

“This boy is a psychopath. He was a lifelong friend of Joaquin. They went to elementary school together. They were there at each other’s birthday parties,” the victim’s mother, Mariela Flores, told the Télam news agency.

“I do not understand it. It’s very hard to understand, I just don’t get it. I want to know why he did it, but I don’t have an answer,” said Martin Sperani, the victim’s father.

The mother of the unfortunate child reported that the attacker “was in love” with her son, according to local news.

“I have a feeling that there’s more to this and that he wasn’t the only one responsible, that there were more people involved,” Flores told reporters.

Sperani was buried on Monday but his remains were exhumed a day later to be included in the official investigation. His family called for a march through the streets of Laboulaye to demand justice for their child.
