Henry Kissinger was pranked by Russian pranksters impersonating Volodymyr Zelensky, revealing the former US secretary of state’s thoughts on last September’s sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline between Russia and Europe, according to a Newsweek report.

The 100-year-old politician, who served as US secretary of state between 1973 and 1977 and also as national security adviser, was the latest “victim” of pranksters known as Vovan and Lexus, Russian media reported.

Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexei Stolyarov have made headlines in the past for pranks with high-profile figures such as musician Elton John, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and former US President George Bush. Their latest stunt shows the pair communicating with Kissinger in a video call pretending to be Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The video shows Kissinger being asked who he thinks was behind last September’s sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipeline between Russia and Germany.

After a long pause, Kissinger says, “I honestly thought you were.” The prankster replies, “Really? Do you think we did? No no.” while Kissinger then adds, “but I didn’t blame you,” implying that he didn’t mean the remark to be critical.
