by

Actor, writer and video game presenter Louis Anderson, who has been honored three times with an Emmy Award, has died today at the age of 68, losing his battle with cancer, his agent announced.

The star of the TV series “Baskets” breathed his last in Las Vegas where he was admitted to hospital earlier this week as he suffered from diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, said Glenn Swartz.

Anderson was a three-time Emmy Award nominee for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and won it in 2016 for his role as “Kristin Basketcht” in the FX television series. He had won two other Emmy Awards for his animated series “Life with Louis” aired by Fox in 1997-98.

Before becoming a comedian after winning a competition in 1981, Anderson was a counselor for children with problems. In 1988 he starred in the film “The Prince of Zamunda” alongside Eddie Murphy while between 1999-2002 he presented the video game Family Feud.

He has also written many books, such as “Goodbye Jambo, hello hard world”, a self-help manual for people with self-esteem problems.
