British singer and presenter Vince Hill passed away today at the age of 86.
Hill came to prominence in 1967 when he recorded a cover of Edelweiss, from the 1959 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Melody of Happiness, which also entered the UK Albums Chart.
The family confirmed the sad news of his death in a statement on his Twitter account.
Unfortunately we have to share news none of us want to hear
We’re very sorry to have to tell you Vince has left us
He passed peacefully at home
Vince created a musical legacy…

“Unfortunately we have to share news that none of us want to hear. We are very sorry to tell you that Vince has left us. He “passed” peacefully home after creating a musical legacy. His melodies will forever remain in our hearts,” his family wrote.
