The Cypriot Fire Service was called on two occasions today Sunday to rescue people who were trapped and dragged with their vehicles in their attempt to cross the river Xero in Paphos.
In the first case, a passer-by located the people and before the police arrived, they threw a rope at them and they managed to get out on the river bank and be rescued.
In the second, after assessing the danger, a helicopter of the Aviation Operations Unit of the Police was called to rescue them. They are all in good health.
Commenting on the two incidents, in a message on Twitter, the spokesman of the Cyprus Fire Service, Andreas Kettis, wrote: “Do not behave so casually. Assess the risk. “
