The EU Foreign Affairs Council condemns Russia’s continued aggression and threats against Ukraine and calls on Russia to de-escalate, to abide by international law and to engage constructively in dialogue through its established international mechanisms, the report concludes.
In particular, the Council adopted conclusions on the European security situation, arguing that European security is indivisible and that any challenge to the European security order affects the security of the EU and its Member States.
As the EU Heads of State and Government stated at the European Council meeting in December 2021, any further military attack by Russia on Ukraine would have enormous consequences and serious costs.
The EU reaffirms its unwavering support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and other Eastern Neighborhood partners within their internationally recognized borders and calls on Russia to re-establish itself constructively of the conflicts.
The Council reaffirms the EU’s unified approach and continued strong co-operation and co-ordination with the United States, NATO, Ukraine and other partner countries. Reiterates the importance of further strengthening the resilience and response capacity of the EU and its close partners, including in dealing with cyber attacks and hybrid attacks, manipulation and interference of foreign information, including misinformation.
