Shocked, France is following the developments of a case of brutal rape and torture of a 29-year-old woman in Cherbourg, who is fighting to stay alive after what she suffered at the hands of an 18-year-old man who is called in the French media Umar N.

The woman suffered multiple rapes, the perpetrator even used a broomstick, causing her serious internal injuries.

Umar N has previously been accused of sexually assaulting his young sister, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The case has shocked France: Omar N broke into the woman’s home in Cherbourg on August 4, grabbed her by the throat and repeatedly punched her in the face and body. He then dragged her into the room where he raped her “several times”.

He subsequently left her with broken ribs, a perforated colon and other serious injuries to her internal organs.

Despite her injuries, the woman managed to reach the phone and call an ambulance, which immediately took her to a hospital. There, she underwent hours-long surgery to save her life. According to local media, cited by the British newspaper, doctors and nurses who witnessed the victim were so shocked by the brutality of the attack that some burst into tears.

The woman is still in a coma.

As for the perpetrator, police sources told Le Figaro newspaper that he is already under investigation for sexually assaulting his 12-year-old sister last year.

It also emerged that the 18-year-old had been convicted five times by juvenile courts for violent behavior and destruction of property.

The police identified Uman N. from the fingerprints he had left at the victim’s house. Also, the fingerprint of his cell phone places him at the victim’s house at the time of the attack.

The young man was arrested in his mother’s apartment. During interrogation, he “showed no trace of empathy or remorse” for the victim and denied everything, until he was informed that the authorities had found his fingerprints at the 29-year-old’s home.

Before falling into a coma, the victim of the attack reportedly told officers that she had seen the young man in town but did not know him personally.
