The Russian FSB security service prevented an attempt by Ukrainian saboteurs to enter the Bryansk region, as the Russian news agency TASS reported today, adding that four people were killed during the incident.

Reuters could not independently confirm the information, which follows a similar incident yesterday, Tuesday.

AFP, citing a statement by the security services posted on their official website, notes that the date of this incident is not mentioned.

For his part, the governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, clarified that the attempt to invade Russian territory by a group consisting of “six saboteurs” took place at 07:00 today.

Explosions and attacks in Russian regions bordering Ukraine, including Bryansk, have occurred on an almost daily basis in recent monthswith Russian officials blaming either Ukrainian forces or Ukrainian-based saboteurs.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry said today it has signed contracts to purchase weapons worth more than 400 billion rubles (US$4.18 billion) at the Army-2023 arms exhibition being held in Moscow, TASS reported.
