Tragedy in Turkey with 12 dead occurred near the province Yozgat late Sunday night, when a passenger bus fell into a ravine. In total there were 31 passengers on the bus.

The driver of the passenger bus traveling from Sebastia to Istanbul, allegedly lost control of the vehicle under unspecified circumstances, as a result of which the coach crossed into the opposite traffic flow and fell into a ravine from a height 30 meters.

Eleven passengers died on the spot. Another victim succumbed to his injuries after being taken to hospital. Another 19 passengers were injured, with one in serious condition.

“I was sleeping, I woke up from the screams” one of the passengers told Turkish media.

“I saw the car hit them and finally we fell down. I don’t remember that moment. I don’t remember what happened next. When I opened my eyes, it was like a place of the Apocalypse,” he added.

The Minister of Justice, Yilmaz Toods announced that a judicial inquiry into the accident is being conducted.
