The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a Ukrainian drone was shot down over Moscow at 6.50am. Explosions rang out in the sky above the city as Kremlin air defenses shot down the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
From the attack there were no casualties, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The drone was spotted by anti-aircraft defense in the Moscow region and “neutralized by means of electronic warfare”, before “crashes near the village of Pokrovskoge, Odintsovo region”southwest of the Russian capital, the same source added.
Another one “terrorist attack by the Kiev regime” was prevented at 08:16, with air defense shooting down a drone in the Istra region, also in the Moscow region, the ministry noted.
As he reported it Russian agency RIA Novosti, after these incidents international airports Vnukovo and Domodedovo of Moscow imposed temporary restrictions on flight arrivals and departures, with many diverted to other airports.
Third attempted Ukrainian drone attack foiled a little later in the morning in the Kaluga region, southwest of Moscow, as stated by local governor Vladislav Chapcha.
“This morning, despite difficult weather conditions, a drone attack against the Kirovsky district was prevented”Chaptsa wrote on Telegram. “There were no injuries or damage to infrastructure”he added.
Drone attacks inside Russia are on the rise for several weeks, without causing casualties or damage most of the time, mainly targeting Moscow.
