At least two teachers were killed today and three other people were injured in a Russian attack on a school in the northeastern town of Romney UkrainianUkrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said today.
Two teachers remain trapped in the debris of the building in Romni, which is in Sumy district, he added.
Photos posted by Ukraine’s interior minister on the messaging app Telegram show rescue workers carrying a body on a stretcher.
The regional military command announced that an unmanned aircraft (drone) launched by Russia hit the school at 10:05 local time (and Greek time).
“The school was destroyed, and this happened before the new school year, which unfortunately will never start for some,” noted civil rights advocate Dmytro Lubinets in a message also on Telegram.
Reuters has so far been unable to independently verify this information. Russia denies deliberately targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
