More than 350 firefighters, 50 vehicles and 12 aircraft have been enlisted by the European Commission to help fight the fires in Greece, says the representative of the Commission in a post on Platform X, Ball Uzvari.

“While the summer season is slowly coming to an end, wildfires continue to rage across the continent. A dozen aircraft, over 350 firefighters, over 50 vehicles were mobilized by the European Commission to help fight the flames across Greece.”

Besides, in a post on X, the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Mechanism states: “Three rescEU firefighting planes from France and two from Spain are participating in the efforts to fight the fires in Greece. In total, we have mobilized 12 aircraft stationed in 7 Member States. This is the largest aerial firefighting operation through rescEU to date.”
