Israeli soldiers killed an Islamic Jihad gunman and wounded another Palestinian today in the West Bank during clashes that Israel said were triggered by an operation to locate a Yafka.

This information was confirmed by the Palestinian armed organization and medical sources.

According to the Israeli security forces, the soldiers entered the Nur Shams camp, near the town of Tulkarem, in order to locate and seize bombs manufactured by local militants. They were attacked by gunmen and returned fire.

Medical sources said a 21-year-old man was killed and a second Palestinian was wounded. Islamic Jihad confirmed that the 21-year-old was a member and took part in the battle.

In another incident, near Jericho, Israeli police said they were looking for a suspect involved in a shooting incident in the Jordan Valley. The police received fire from a Palestinian, returned fire and “neutralized” him. The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed the death of the man who according to the residents of the city was 17 years old. So far, however, his age has not been confirmed by official sources.

Police said one officer was injured in the clashes.
