The body of Junior Roldánits leading executive of powerful Los Choneros gangwhich is the fear and terror in Ecuador, disappeared from a Colombian cemetery where he had been buriedas the police announced.

His remains were placed in a vault in the city of Envigadosince no one had searched for his body, according to the BBC.

Junior Roldán was found shot in the head in Colombia’s Antioquia province last May. He had fled to Colombia after surviving two previous assassination attempts on him in Ecuador.

Police suspect that he was murdered by his bodyguard who wanted to steal the large amount of money the gang leader had taken with him while in hidingbut police have not made any arrests in connection with his murder.

His body was identified by the tattoos and he was then buried in the central cemetery just south of Medellín on May 18.

But last Tuesday the workers found a gate to the cemetery open and when they searched the site they noticed that one of the chambers was empty.

Officials later confirmed that said vault contained the body of Junior Roldán.

Police told local media that several men broke into the cemetery during the night and took the body.

So far it is unclear if the suspects had a motive but Roldán had many enemies.
