He was arrested on his own, in the early hours of yesterday (13/9), by police officers of the Lawreotiki Security Department of the Attica Security Directorate, for distinguished cases of theft, by profession and as a consequence, as well as for violation of the weapons legislation.

THE 45 years old was spotted during his escape from a coffee shop in Hutswhich had just broken in and removed the cash register drawer from its interior.

He was immobilized before he could enter the escape vehicle and in his possession were found and confiscated an iron crowbar, with which he had previously broken the glass pane of the above store, the drawer of the cash register that he grabbed from the store, a screwdriver, a knife and the clothing used in committing the thefts.

The police were conducting searches in the areas where his criminal activity had been mapped, as cases of shoplifting-theft in a similar manner during the summer months had been recorded and investigated.

How was he acting?

As for his modus operandi, the 45-year-old was driving his company car in the early hours of the morning in areas of the southern and northern suburbs looking for shops that were not open at that time.

After assessing the prevailing conditions around the target store, they would break the glass or breach the entrance with burglary tools or in some cases enter it through unsecured points.

After entering the interior, he would remove cash register drawers as well as electronic devices and escape.

From the preliminary investigation, a total of (26) cases were identified in Lavrio, Saronida, Lagonisi, Palaia Fokaia, Paania, Pallini, Nea Makri and Marathon.

The arrested person was taken to the Athens District Attorney.
