A private jet has crashed and broken in two on landing in Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay), on the west coast of India, thankfully with no casualties but minor injuries.

The Learjet 45 VT-DBL, which had taken off from Visakhapatnam, had a total of eight people on board: six passengers and two pilots.

Bad weather prevailed in Mumbai, with rain and limited visibility.

Images broadcast by Indian television showed the private jet skidding off the airport’s runway as fire engines and ambulances rushed to the scene.

Due to the accident and the mobilization that followed, there were delays in the departure of some flights. India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation is conducting an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
