This was stated by Saviano Abreu, representative of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Ukraine, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, as reported by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.
The UN expects the humanitarian situation in Ukraine to worsen if the current trend continues and plans to provide humanitarian aid to 11 million Ukrainians this year.

“The full-scale Russian invasion has led to a severe humanitarian crisis…18 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. They are almost half of the people who are currently in UkraineAbreu said.
“We expect that by the end of the year we will increase the volume of humanitarian aid and reach 11 million people… Our goal is to help at least 11 million people out of the 18 million plus people who need helpAbreu said.
He pointed out that winter is approaching and this will create new risks and increase people’s needs.
According to UN data, 7.3 million Ukrainians received humanitarian aid in the first six months of this year.
