Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a meeting with businessman Elon Musk in New York on Sunday, during which the Turkish president urged the CEO of Tesla to build the seventh factory of his car manufacturer in Turkey.

During their meeting at the so-called “Turkish House”, which houses Turkey’s permanent delegation to the UN and the Turkish consulate in New York, Erdogan briefed the founder of Tesla and SpaceX on his country’s technological achievements , his vision for the digitization of the Turkish public sector and the national strategy for Artificial Intelligence, according to a statement from Turkey’s Directorate of Communications.

The Turkish president also mentioned that cooperation opportunities may arise with SpaceX in Turkey’s space program and invited Elon Musk to the Teknofest aerospace and technology festival to be held at the end of the month in Izmir.
