BBC iPlayer has removed shows featuring the 48-year-old actor and presenter
BBC iPlayer has moved to remove shows featuring Russell Brand after YouTube suspended ad revenue from his videos, his concerts were canceled and his publisher pulled out, the Daily Mail reports.
A 2018 episode of the British show “QI” featuring the 48-year-old comedian as a panelist and a Joe Wicks podcast featuring him as a guest in 2021 were unavailable as of Monday afternoon. A BBC spokesman said: “The BBC does not ban or remove content when it is in the public record, unless we have a good reason to do so.”
It is recalled that YouTube announced today that it has blocked Russell Brand’s online channel so that he cannot make money from it after the accusations leveled against him for a series of sexual assaults.
He earned 1 million a year from YouTube
According to the DailyMail, the 48-year-old produces around five videos a week for his 6.6 million subscribers, earning almost £1m a year.
Under the terms of his suspension, Brand – whose net worth is estimated at between £15m and £40m – is allowed to post videos on the platform but is not allowed to receive any of the advertising revenue.
YouTube spokespeople said: “If a creator’s behavior outside the platform harms users, employees, we take action to protect the community. This decision applies to all channels that may be owned or operated by the “Russell Brand” channel.
Other channels linked to his main YouTube page include Football Is Nice, which has around 20,000 subscribers, Awakening With Russell, which has 426,000 subscribers, and Stay Free With Russell Brand, which has 22,200 subscribers.
