He concluded his speech by posing a question to the audience: “How can we become more empathetic Senators?”
Democratic Senator John Fetterman bent in a speech to a congressional committee. He claims that he has been the victim of bullying many times on the occasion of his clothing and the health problems he faces.
The Senator couldn’t hold back his tears saying that he can’t stand everyone bothering about his outfit anymore, as he simply dresses in sweatshirts and Bermudas and not jackets, but also that many of his colleagues make fun of him because of the way he speaks because of the stroke which he suffered a few months ago.
He even showed the application he uses in order to be able to communicate more easily with his family.
The 54-year-old, according to the Daily Mail, spoke before the audience at the US Senate Select Committee on Aging. “I mean, there are far more important issues to deal with than social media likes on comments saying I dress like a bum,” he said.
Politician Marjorie Taylor Green criticized Fetterman on social media: “The Senate no longer enforces a dress code for senators,” she wrote, adding
“The dress code is one of society’s standards that show respect for our institutions. Stop lowering the bar!’
“How can we become more empathetic Senators?”
It is recalled that this year the Democratic Senator was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of dizziness and a few months later, he was hospitalized with clinical depression, while he reportedly has hearing and speech processing problems, as symptoms of the stroke he suffered in May 2022.
It is noted that for the “New York Times”, in 2009, Fetterman was declared the “coolest” mayor in America. He concluded his speech by posing a question to the audience: “How can we become more empathetic Senators?”
