Tocoron Prison had become a stronghold of a criminal gang – Underground tunnels led to the outside world while inside was a heavy arsenal
Incredible images of comfort and luxury were seen by the Venezuelan authorities after a raid of 11,000 soldiers on a prison that had become a den of a known criminal gang.
This is Tocorón, one of the most violent prisons in the country and a stronghold of the Tren de Aragua criminal gang.
Authorities in Venezuela have retaken control of a notorious prison that was run by inmates for years.

Whole families lived in the place that had all the comforts: a swimming pool, a zoo with tigers and lions and also a night club, for the entertainment of the prisoners.
Underground a network of tunnels allowed free movement outside the prison as well.
Inside the penitentiary was also found the gang’s heavy arsenal – from bullets and guns to rocket launchers – as well as dozens of BitCoin mining machines
These are now a thing of the past as the gang members moved away after the operation.
The leader of the Tren de Aragua gang had however been informed of the impending operation and escaped a few days before with other members of the gang
Maduro’s government congratulated the officers for retaking the prison and dismantling the “center of conspiracy and crime” in the country.
