At least seven people died and seven others were injured in Mexico on Sunday when the roof of a church collapsed during a service in Ciudad Madero, in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas, the local government said.

“Seven people have been confirmed dead” and “ten injured have been rescued,” a state government security spokesman said, adding that a search and rescue operation was underway as there were still people trapped.

Video uploaded to social media sites shows the moment the church’s roof collapsed, with a grayish cloud of dust rising and the church’s yellow exterior walls falling in turn.

According to the online edition of the newspaper Reforma, among the victims is a child. The newspaper cited Adrian Oseguera, the mayor of Madero, on Mexico’s Gulf coast, near the port of Tampico.
