Britain: Gray partygate report delivered on Downing Street

by

London, Thanasis Gavos

A spokesman for the Cabinet of Ministers in London said Sue Gray, a senior government official, had given Prime Minister Boris Johnson an “update” on her investigation into the Downing Street parties amid bans.

The word “information” leads political commentators to conclude that Ms. Gray believes that her report at this time is not in its final form.

The long-awaited report was delivered in the morning after a delay of several days and is expected to not include detailed references to names and evidence of the parties that are considered to be a criminal offense.

This is due to a relevant request of the Metropolitan Police, which last week announced the conduct of its own investigation into the so-called ‘partygate’.

The opposition has said that anything other than Sue Gray’s full report will be seen as an attempt to cover up the alleged scandal.

Downing Street has said that the report will be published a few hours after its receipt, while Prime Minister Johnson has said that he will make an emergency statement in the House of Commons, which could be made even this afternoon.
