Germany: Suspect in the murder of two police officers arrested

by

The Rhineland-Palatinate Police arrested Andreas Johannes Smith a few hours ago, who was wanted as a suspect in the murder of two police officers who, as part of a regular patrol, carried out a search on a vehicle which, as it was found, was transporting illegal prey.

According to the representative of the Police, the suspect was arrested without any resistance, however the investigations continue, as the possibility that the perpetrator also had an accomplice has not been ruled out.

Smith, 38, had inadvertently left his personal documents at the crime scene, most likely from police control. The unfortunate police officers, a 24-year-old woman who was still attending the Police School and a 29-year-old man, tried to check the perpetrator’s car at 4:20 in the Kuzel area, near Kaiserslautern, and, as reported by their service, found prey. in the luggage compartment. A little while later, they were heard on the radio shouting “they are shooting at us, they are shooting at us!”. When the aid arrived, the woman was already dead, while her colleague exhaled a few hours later. Both wore bulletproof vests and suffered head injuries.
