The German Foreign Minister expressed on Friday the deep concerns of the European Union after the recent bloody incident between Serb armed forces and Kosovo police which left behind four dead and ignited tension in the region, reports the Associated Press.
Analena Burbok was in Tirana, Albania, for a meeting of foreign ministers ahead of the October 16 summit on the Berlin Process, an initiative by Germany and France to encourage six Western Balkan countries to continue working towards joining the block.
Top diplomats from the six countries of Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia are meeting with Burbok, EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varghelli and other senior EU officials.
“The foundation for mobility in the region is securityBurbock said before the meeting, adding that “the tensions of recent days between Serbia and Kosovo also put this Berlin Process at risk.”
The key to resolving the conflict lies in Belgrade and Pristina, as much as some may not like it, he said.
